Defeitos para o mundo dos sérios brings together the recent production of visual artist Ana Prata. Amidst the selection of paintings, it is possible to follow her path of experimentation, which mixes historical references - such as the modernist repertoire - with the presence of interiority in compositions that make use of a variety of forms and procedures, in a kind of game with different methods of painting.
Transiting through the optics of humor and the intimate universe, Ana Prata's work shows itself as an exercise of her critical spirit. "What comes first for me is always the matter, the many possibilities that painting offers as a thing - where there is a confrontation," comments the artist. Even in relation to humor, "it is not the figuration that sets the tone, but the painting itself, which transmits this with the color combinations, the procedures, the compositions and formal solutions, the supports, the appropriations," points out curator Ivo Mesquita.
The publication includes an interview by Tiago Mesquita and texts by Livia Benedetti and Ivo Mesquita.
